Serum protein pattern in African neonates.

چکیده
were determined in the cord blood of 75 African and 10 European babies born in Zambia, and in the venous blood of 5 pregnant African women at term. When the high y-globulin fraction was excluded, there was no significant difference between the pattern of serum proteins of the Africans and the Europeans at birth. Present evidence favours the view that the high serum y-globulin and low albumin of the adult Negro have an environmental rather than a genetic background.

Is there any Correlation between Cerebrospinal Fluid and Serum C-reactive Protein in Neonates Suspected to Meningitis?
Background: Meningitis is a common life threatening infection in neonatal period. Diagnostic value of CSF-CRP level in bacterial meningitis in children and adults has been studied worldwide, but there are limited studies on CSF-CRP in neonatal meningitis. This study conducted to assess any relation between CSF-CRP and plasma CRP levels and abnormal CSF findings in neonates suspected to meningit...
متن کاملMaternal serum vitamin D at 11-13 weeks in pregnancies delivering small for gestational age neonates.
OBJECTIVES To determine if maternal serum levels of 25(OH)D at 11-13 weeks' gestation are altered in pregnancies that subsequently deliver small for gestational age (SGA) neonates and whether the levels are related to placental function reflected in serum concentration of pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A). METHODS Serum 25(OH)D and PAPP-A were measured at 11-13 weeks in 150 singl...
متن کاملPhototherapy motivates protein and lipid oxidation in jaundiced term and late term neonates
Background: Hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most important complications encountered in neonatal units. It has been proposed that phototherapy yields oxidative stress. Therefore, this study was undertaken to survey the levels of antioxidant and oxidative stress in the serum of neonates before and after phototherapy. Methods: This study was performed on thirty-five healthy, late preterm (>35 w...
متن کاملEvaluation of Nutritional Status in a Teaching Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Background:Extrauterine growth restriction remains a common and serious problem in newborns especially who are small, immature, and critically ill. Very low birth weight infants (VLBW) had 97% and 40% growth failure at 36 weeks and 18-22 months post-conceptual age respectively. The postnatal development of premature infants is critically dependent on an adequate nutritional intake that mimics a...
متن کاملEffects of dietary fish oil replacement by vegetable oil on the serum biochemical and haematological parameters of African catfish (Heterobranchus longifilis) fingerlings
The present study aimed to elucidate the impacts of dietary vegetable oil blends as alternative to fish oil on serum biochemical and haematological parameters in Heterobranchus longifilis fingerlings. Fish (4.65 ± 0.23g) were fed diets containing fish oil (FO), palm oil (PO), soybean oil (SO), blend of PO and SO (POSO) over a 12-week period. The experiment was carried out in 62-l circular tanks...
